Trivia Fun and The Auto Bonbons want YOU to help with an AD CAMPAIGN - it'll be fun (and delicious) :)

Attention Fans --- Em & Leigh – The Auto Bonbons – are having their first ever advertising slogan/campaign contest – selected and judged by YOU – our fans! Catchy? Colorful? Cool? We want YOUR ideas people!

To get your (and our) creative juices flowin’
we took a few campaigns/taglines/songs/movie quotes/headlines that are “blasts from our past.” Of course, at first glance/listen, you may be thinking – “wow, how clever that such and such company thought of this campaign.” But, when you listen or glance even “closer” or “harder,” you’ll see that The Auto Bonbons have a strong connection; it’s synchronous!

To name a few (just see below)… in case you want to “play along” and guess the tagline/company/product/song and year, we will list it. We won’t make you “turn to page 225,” or “wait until next week.” We will post it right below the slogan, picture and/or tagline. Also, you can score yourself 9/9 (do I smell “bonus” opportunities, too). Don’t worry we won’t give you an “F,” if you only get 3 correct. But come on people – know your current events, ad slogans, and movie/music trivia – these are some classics. We love you fans.

1. “The Auto Bonbons never say die. Auto Bonbons never say die.” For those of you who guessed James Bond – wroooooong. It’s one of the famous quotes from one of Leigh’s favorite childhood movies – Goonies (1985),
made even better, with a “bonbon” reference. And that’s right fans, they never say die – just like Em and Leigh – The Auto Bonbons, who (if you ask them), are still finalists in the upcoming Rally Race Competition. Woop! Woop!

2. The ____________was here. Got a little _________in you? (hint – alcoholic beverage). The Captain Was Here, Got a little captain in you – Captain Morgan. Clearly, Em & Leigh got here waaaay before the captain. Because when you think about it. YOU have a little bit of Em & Leigh (silly, fun-loving) girls inside of you. Be sure to tap into that a little each day, BTW – you’ll be smiling and laughing at everything or nothing at all. It makes life more fun with a little Em & Leigh (as you can see, we’re sure) 

3. Song - In the day we sweat it out in the streets of a runaway american dream

At night we ride through mansions of glory in suicide machines
Sprung from cages out on highway 9,
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected and steppin out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
Its a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while were young
`cause tramps like us…because…”Baby we were born to run (1975) (Bruce Springsteen).” Leigh & Em view this song as “Baby we were booooorrnn to race.” Because they know that they would kick but in the Rally Race competition, but not without awesome fans like YOU!

4. “My preeeeecious” (said in very evil, eerie, raspy voice). I know many of you think this is an easy one – Gollum (Smeagol), referring to “the ring” in Lord of the Rings (2002).
Well, you’re right. Sméagol still vaguely remembered things like friendship and love, while "Gollum" was a slave to the Ring who knew only treachery and violence. Em and Leigh hope to earn the challenge of Ford Focus Rally contestants and if anyone has anything “lucky” for them to bring along that may: turn them invisible, make them last longer, and then eventually consume their minds – forward along. Ok, scratch the last part. You get the point, our preccciouss followers – te he!

5. Song(s) (yes fans, there’s a chance for a bonus points here; see, we are true sweethearts)!

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer _______ ____ ____. Answer (1 point) - Let it be (Beatles, 1969). Let it be, Let it be, Em and Leigh for Rally Race – there will be an answer, let it be Em & Leigh. That’s speaking words of wisdom. Te he. Kidding people but we chose this song because it was the 12th and final album recorded by one of Em’s favorite bands, the Beatles. It was also the product of the great work of the Beatles collaborating live, in studio, on a project they had worked on prior but were unhappy with it so they decided to re-do it. That’s how Em and Leigh work on a lot of their projects – over and over again until they both love it. Kicking, screaming, collaborating, tough love, etc. (exhibit, their first video).

Ok bonus point time (also Beatles, and also from the Let it Be album)

Sounds of laughter shades of life
are ringing through my open ears
exciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which
shines around me like a million suns ____________________. Across the Universe (Beatles, 1969). (Bonus point – 1)Which is where Em & Leigh are headed in February 2011. Right! For a bonus point it was featured in the movie Pleasantville and remade by what amazing female artist? Fiona Apple (bonus point 2). The interesting thing about this song is that WHEN Em and Leigh get on the show – it’s totally gonna change their world – LOL!

6. Viva __________ (it’s one word here not too). So, nope guys, sorry it’s not Vegas. It’s another “V” – Viagra. So of course when you want a good, hard erection that could last for up to four hours (when you used to last two minutes, or not even get it up), if that – then yes grab one of the those “V’s”. But when you when a good, hard two minutes of laughter – down-LOAD one of these, Em & Leigh’s You Tube videos (EmNLeigh). Who knows, you may burn just as many calories while watching one of their hilllarious videos, as you do after a two minute (or four hours if you’re lucky), loving making session with your truck drivin’, oil changin’, country road drivin’ man. Sometimes the truth hurts, especially if he’s had a long day at the office and you “suffering from” that nagging headache – again!

7. “Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.” (Almond Joy/Mounds, 1977). Or sometimes you feel like two nuts – which are the one, the only duo of, Em & Leigh. Open up and say Auto Bonbon – forget Mounds and Almond Joy – they are so 80’s…”live in the now man” a quote from another famous duo (for 1 bonus point), that’s Wayne and Garth, from Wayne’s World. Party on!

Couldn’t decide how to end the quiz so here are two for the grand finale.

8. “Two girls, one ________.” I know. I know. Many of you were thinking of that nasty video that “blew up” (no pun intended), You Tube many moons (no, not another pun), ago. Dirty, dirty, dirty, minds. This is actually – two girls, one adventure, which is the adventure that Em and Leigh hope to share on the upcoming reality television series (CBS) and webisode (HULU).

9. They’re here. (Poltergeist) (1982). Yes, Em & Leigh ARE HERE.
Traditionally and technically poltergeists are troubled spirits or ghosts that terrorize human beings, make loud noises and move objects around. Well, watch out (hide your children, look in your rear view mirror on the road), because Em & Leigh ARE HERE and they are very much alive and kicking. They aren’t going away anytime soon, so you might as well love ‘em, subscribe to ‘em and like ‘em. They may be driving cross country in a city, near you, very soon. Mwah hahaha mwahhahaha – insert evil Thriller laugh here (I actually will, if I can figure out how to thriller laugh and face BOO
*Disclaimer to the question above: Please note that Em & Leigh are the sweetest, most lovable characters you will ever enjoy meeting. Just don’t cut them off in traffic or in the checkout line at Ralphs. Hey-o!

So, how did YOU score?

12 (all 9 plus the bonus 3) = 12, you are a tv, movie, and music genius – wow! And what a memory

7-11 – pretty smart you are pilgrim

4-6 – normal or average – yikes, who wants to be that?

0-3 – Get outta the cave you filthy ignoramus (although WE still love YOU, so keep supporting us)

We thank you for your support and keep on keepin’ on with us. Thanks for reading and please do some of the things below to help out (us, with the followers and YOU with a new car)! Oh yeah!

Please post your votes, opinions and comments – they count America, it’s not like voting – kidding kidding kidding. But come on seriously, we knew the house was going Republican.

Check yes, for enjoying the fact that we included a little political jargon in this blog 

BOOBS!!!! (brought to you by: Manners Manners Manners (to the melody of Rawhide) )

Hey-O check this: BIG BOOBS ARE SOOO COOL!!! I JUST LOVE HOW FLUFFY AND BOUNCY THEY ARE - the fact that they can DOUBLE AS PILLOWS is equally impressive! Ok - boobs are awesome but really I'm just kidding, just trying to get you to KEEP READING and maybe - *gasps* dare I whisper, "subscribe?"
Follow this for "rawhide" clip and you'll understand the tune:

Em Jo here and I am proud to announce we officially have 8 followers!! That's one up from yesterday :) (and last week.....I know, we're a big deal....I KNOW)

I was out and about shopping for tomorrow's big deal (Thanksgiving) with my pop's earlier today and it became quite apparent to me there are several laws of "etiquette" which people in Los Angeles (and probably in general) are severally lacking. Just so you yourself don't become apart of that tribe I am here to guide you in a few key concepts that everyone should know and practice EVERYDAY:

1.) PLEASE AND THANK YOU's - it's quite amazing how far a sweet - make that simply a KIND disposition can get you. I overheard a woman at the meat counter today say, "gimme 6 pounds of your pork belly." Slumped over and seemingly sad, the butcher bagged her items. Without so much of a thank you she whisked the package out of his hand and embarrassed for us all -  I farted really loudly....just to cause a distraction...ok - that's not true either but now that I have your attention.......What is true is I think everyone forgot that saying please and thank you is so important. The added bummer to this whole situation is when the consumer isn't saying his please's and thanks, the cashier becomes frustrated and rude because they have dealt with this kind of BS all day long.....then they take that with them when they leave work and the whole thing starts ALL OVER! Still with me? BOOBIES........

2.) WALKING IS LIKE DRIVING - that is, you walk like an asshole, you'll more than likely drive like an asshole and the other way around. What I'm trying to say here jack holes of aisle walking, is that YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WALK ON YOUR RIGHT. When in doubt walk on your flipping right.

***While you're learning this key part of life, please do us all a favor and teach your children the same thing. That's the last thing any of us need, little children pushing and screaming their way  through the grocery store. I'm going off course here - but that's another thing that's completely rude, bringing your young and impatient children to the grocery store, mall, antique shop with you wherever you go. Rude to your child, rude to the store owners, most importantly rude to the patrons....

I digress, the thing is - if everyone understood that we are to walk on our right there wouldn't be so many foot traffic jams, "EXCUE ME! I'M WALKING'S!" and overall anger that definitely does NOT need to be added to this world.
I don't have anything extra to add to that - I just want you to walk on your right.

There are many things more that I need to run by you i.e. elaborating on children, and elevator exiting but to avoid boring you and to appease the pops who is visiting from out of town who just leered over my shoulder and said and I quote, "that's a blog post? that's a long F*cking (hmmmm what went in place of that asterisk??? hmm) blog..." I will end this and keep you craving more

SEE YA! And Happy Thanksgiving in advance :) LET'S EAT and by eat I mean add and by add I mean......subscribe, follow and LOVE - or loathe....just follow

Complaining, life, communicating, friends and physics -

Looks’ like Em and I are gonna “blog it out, bitch”…two of my fav clips from Entourage' and The Office :0 )
Well, here goes. You know what. Wait. Nevermind. I’ve actually just written over two pages of the BS going on in my life right now and numerous rebuttals to Emily’s comments in the prior blog/our conversation in the car this evening…but, I deleted it as soon thereafter.
I know we are humans. We have feelings, emotions, and our own logical perception and conclusions to events. It’s ok to be present with our feelings and emotions. We are going to be sad. We are going to be angry. We will doubt. But, ultimately what are we going to focus on? Right?
I’m going to tie in the events of my day, with the Rally Race contest and the movie screening/panel I attended this evening. Ghetto Physics, a new movie by William Arntz (if you think he sounds familiar I will spill the beans, soon) and Raymond E. Brown, is a blend of documentary, satire, and narrative filmmaking examines the power dynamic that exists in social, political, and corporate relationships.
ONE HUGE THING I just learned from the movie (and actually already knew, but ALWAYS need reminders), complaining (it’s featured during the segment in the movie where the African man highlights “C”, “E,” “S” but I don’t remember because he made up the words). What I do remember is laughing, hard,  because he tried to make light of being selfish, complaining, and taking the victim’s stance, which only turns us (myself  included)  into “a hoe.” And I want to be a P-I-M-P. Don’t we all? Or, do we? You need to see the movie “to get” that reference.

Ghetto Physics: Will the Real Pimps and Hos Please Stand Up? begins (wait, let me inform you (the reader), that I missed the first 15 minutes because “I” was “waiting” for “my friend.” I know. I know. You are thinking “but Leigh Anne is always the late one.” I am. I am ALWAYS the late one. She (the said friend), finally texts me when I’m outside and she’s inside, to”just come in.” Well, my name isn’t on any of the lists. So I am stuck outside. And I was here even before the movie began (outside in the cold eating my Persian leftovers) ghormeh sabsi – yum! Ahh, the luck I get for waiting for my friend. I then notice a nice, smiling, black, gentleman, who hears me trying “to pimp” – you see what I did there J my way into the viewing. He then inquires “you’re with Carmen’s group, right?” To which I respond, “of course, if it will get me into the showing,” and I wink. I then thank the kind man and ask him some questions about the screening and proceed to prattle on about my Social Econ class from college and how I enjoyed reading “The Secret” and “The Golden Ghetto.” “Oh the psychology of affluence” blah blah blah,” I whisper and nod as we enter the theater and ask him to sit with me. “What do you hope to get out of this,” I ask? He smiles. “Oh, I’m the writer and the director.” I peer onto the large screen and see the same man smiling back at me, and also to a classroom of eager students on the screen. “Oh, I see,” I respond.  And then he winks back at me. Who “pimped” who? You will need to see this amazing movie to get the reference.

So, the movie (for me), began like a class tutorial for “everyday Joes” which focuses on the same inner and outer self constructs from “What the Bleep Do We Know” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_the_Bleep_Do_We_Know!%3F

(William Arntz, who I mentioned before),  directed that film, which was one of the first mainstream movie covering the topic of metaphysics (along with The Secret)

– thanks Oprah! However, GP is much less science-y and more about the mind, being empowered, your own inner mind game, individual responsibility, and the social dynamics of power (you can go from the political structure of The White House and royalty, to the “pimpin’ hierarchy in the ghetto (pimps and hos). Through these “power archetypes and interactions” we witness over and over again that what happens in our inner self is duplicated and experienced by our outer self. However, “out there” isn’t really “out there;” It’s inside of each and every one of us.

Furthermore, we learn that throughout history that people everywhere often refer to human relationships, dynamics, and systems as "a game." However, we see that the game never changes, only the players change.  Many people see themselves as powerless, helpless, victims of the game.
There is also a “call to action” to higher spiritual level, where you can be both a pimp and a ho, at different times, with different people, and you must know when to pick and choose, and do your best not to fall into the trap of a materialistic society. The world’s not flat, it’s round. What goes around will come back around. The main lesson: you must step out of the victim mindset and see your powerful self within the context of any relationship, or “game.”

So, do you wanna be a victim or do you want to master your own destiny? We all need to do something substantial to change this world, to move people in such a way that it becomes bigger than our own selves. This is not a new concept; we know this. I know this. You know this. But reflecting on this sentiment is vastly different than taking it to heart and incorporating it into our lives in "real time."

This brings me back to me and Emily and this contest. We may complain and we may fight. But throughout this competition (whether we are together or apart), we are growing...same directions, different directions, and common goals, just in different aspects and at different speeds, and with different definitions of “how best” and “when” to do it. Plus, we are on way different schedules. Ultimately, we want to be our ultimate best ho/pimp, yin/yang.

It also made me think of something I learned from (and also know but always need to be reminded), without “gettin’ all Jesus freak” on everyone, a guy on set the other day, about religion/God.  “If I told you apple pie were delicious” would you believe me or have to find out and take a bite of it yourself?” You know you’d have to take a bite. In the process you may try pumpkin, pecan and lemon meringue, and pecan may be your favorite. To which you may venture on a quest to find the best recipe and open your own pie making business. Who knows? So, is the adventure of life.  Creating your heaven on earth and believing that you have the ability to do so. And also, you have the responsibility to yourself to make it happen. Wow!

Me and the director - E Ray -

The movie left me educated, empowered, inspired, and ready to “rally on.” And I wouldn’t want anyone else beside me, but Emily! Love you Bon Bon Buddy!

Too much of a good friend - is that possible?

Hey everyone! It's Em and as I'm gearing up to shut down the office and go on holiday vaca for 5 days (yes, FIVE whole days) I am realizing that Leigh Anne and I haven't seen each other in over a week...let alone speak!
It's so weird - when this whole Focus Rally thing started off (mind you - the start date was NOVEMBER 10th....we haven't been at this for months like some people!) we were on the phone constantly providing one another with updates, planning our successful futures and sharing ways in which we could "get more friends" faster "secrets to followers" etc etc. We had a sesh in which we filmed (or attempted to film) a sequential short which only ended in semi frustration and a seemingly unfinished product. Alas, I made something of it - something wonderful I think, and I know Leigh Anne concurs as she's proudly blasting it EVERYWHERE! Now here we are, the final casting sessions have taken place and as far as I can see we are in the midst of a numbers game....unless of course Ford is planning to surprise us all and this is in actuality a personality game....but that's neither here nor there....at least not right now.

So I spent a ton of time this past weekend networking, adding, posting, plotting etc until someone said to me, "I'm so sick of all your team's posts that I'm hiding you, your friend, and the team!" I subsided a bit then. I attempted to reach out to Leigh Anne so many times that I eventually gave up. By the time she reached out to me, I was over it. I'm not saying it's right, wrong, appropriate or mature, it's just what happened. We communicated a little here and there through text but it was her seldom Facebook updates where I obtained her schedule. She's going to the VMA's  - no make that AMA's....she's not going. She's going to after parties. She's making business cards....for what business? Oh right The Auto Bon Bon's - to pass out at the VMA's of course, no, make that the AMA's.....ummm

So now I read through social media networking sites that she's had a bad date, loves Persians, had a cameltoe and is now hungover. I have the same schedule every day and every week (work 8-5 Monday thru Friday followed up with gym, then dinner and bed and FREE weekends). I had hoped we could work together on my off time. She's busy too and I understand. I don't think Ford cares about our commitment levels though. Our competition doesn't appear to have day jobs as they are online 24/7 and adding adding adding, posting, filming, posting posting posting, filming and posting some more and I'm concerned about that but more importantly - my luster is fading.

I'm also terribly concerned with the notion that Leigh and I have overdosed on each other. Perhaps Ford will care about that, a little friendly drama? A little something that is DIFFERENT than what all these other people have - which is not only nothing short of all the time in the world, top fans of ford, and social media experts, but best best BEST friends who never argue disagree or ahhh - dare I say it, FIGHT?! I don't know, maybe I'm reading into things. But I doubt it - we've overdosed or she got a new job.

Either way I still think we'd make excellent contestants on Focus Rally America, and an even better TEAM - that is if we can both agree on one definition of the word "team" ;-)

....Luster is brightening a bit now. :)

Sharing Bad Photos - A Sign of Trust?

For some, a bad photo could mean the end of the world. It could be the ultimate "cat-outta-the-bag" moment exposing dark circles (ay-yo), 'save-for-later' tooth treats, or the unexplainable stain on boob pic - while it might not necessarily ruin someone's life it could definitely bruise the ego and make your next unexpected photo a display of the anxiety ridden, stiff, stone-straight-smiling, you.
Personally, I (Emily - hello - good evening), have a bit of a vain side (I will not be ashamed of who I am!) and will spend ample time trying to convince complete strangers at Niagara Falls to try a third take of the "Hey Mom! I'm at Niagara Falls!" picture....
Anyhoo - Leigh Anne and I have only been friends for a short time. The number of photos we have is limited. We should, although we don't, be carrying a camera at all times so we can capture those unexpected model shots while having Thursday coffee and post them on our Focus Rally America fan pages which we have 10 or so of....but we don't! We have been posting photos form the same 5 events over and over again...they are getting stale.
It's Saturday and the rain is making me tipsy, and the wine is making me cozy so I started to sift through my photos and I have discovered some not-so-appropriate, not-so-pretty photos of us that I must share with you the viewer, observer, or fan.
Take it as a gesture to prove my love for your support.
Take it as me trusting you to know....who I, and Leigh Anne really are.
When the cameras are gone.
Perhaps it's a glimpse into what an 8 hour drive to the "only 2 hours away natural hot springs in Santa Barbara!"insanity can cause and the delirium that is more than likely to ensue....maybe it was the red wine that day. I couldn't tell you. Enjoy!
*Observe the dog food above her head*
K - I seriously look like I'm drugs this picture and this is where the vanity comes into play. That and my boobs are making my head look like the size of a cherry.

Contrary to what this photo has captured we did NOT just finish love making....this was not our "cigarette"-photo

Nor are we hanging upside down being muddled by LSD....it's just what happens when you've been in the car for 8 hours searching for natural hot springs that were supposed to be an hour and a half away and you drove an hour and a half into the wilderness....so far I think we could have found cave men if we looked hard enough

HEY THERE - DID YOU ENJOY READING THIS?! IF SO, PLEASE JUST LOG ONTO YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT (i.e. youtube, google, blogger (THEY ARE ALL THE SAME) AND SUBSCRIBE OR FOLLOW OUR BLOG...HELP ME OUT! THANKS

Meet Em n Leigh The Auto Bon Bon's - Because the World Needs More Sweet

Ford Focus Rally Race - Em and Leigh - Finalists

Hey guys! It's loopy loo - Leigh Anne here! Check out my interpretation of who the heck we are here!!

“Inspired” by a true story…

The biopic - If you thought “Jerry McGuire,” had you at “hello,” and that Jonah Hill and Michael Cera spooning was super good, in “Superbad" wait until your first encounter with Em and Leigh.  At first glance this 'get to know them video' appears like every other (“I am Jane. I like dogs. I am funny”) story, but soon one will caress and embrace the iceberg of awesomeness that makeup Em and Leigh - The Auto Bonbons.
"The Auto Bonbons – because the World Needs more Sweet,”  a short biopic, takes a deep, honest look at two women and the hilarity that ensues; but only once they stop fighting their feelings and succumb to being friends! Forced to live in the sometimes mundane existence and constraints of “9-5 Zombie Society” where the average Joe enjoys schedules, routines, and black coffee, these two join forces and end up becoming poignant examples of humor, passion and heart!  So audiences, take off your bra (you may want to FLASH along with these two), put on your bright yellow sunglasses, grab your favorite gag gift, sit back, and enjoy a large glass of Cabernet.
Buckle up and stay tuned – for this promises to be one  wild ride......

Tune into Focus Rally America – the new and much anticipated reality show brought to you by Ford Focus, coming February 201! It's the world's first INTERACTIVE REALITY SERIES in which the top 10 people who follow the winning cast members and help them achieve their goals, will win a 2012 Ford Focus (as a thank you from Ford, and us :)).

The director of this short - is Emily Oehler.  Her work here is contemporary, powerful and comes complete with a weighty message: in this life be as silly as you wanna be, FOCUS, be adventurous, and have good friends to support you along the way.
Sounds to me like there is no “race” these two, can’t finish - together. But, even if they didn’t win – I’m sure they’d be smiling and laughing the entire ride!
  • Directed by: Emily Jo Oehler
  • Written by/screenplay/adapted screenplay – AutoBonBon Productions
  • Stars: Emily Oehler, Leigh Richman
  • Running Time: 2 minutes, 13 seconds
Emily and Leigh - Behind the scenes:   Why do you ladies want this? (Oehler and Richman responded individually but agreed on so many answers): Here is the general overview:

"We know how amazing we feel when doing what we want and being who we are.  We know that Rally Race would help us improve our friendship, enjoy adventure, and share our spunky, energetic, and spirited personalities with America.  We hope to enlighten and lighten up lives -- with laughter, smiles, and proposed wisdom.  The money and cars would help them start a new business – an alternative dessert company that is peanut free, designed specifically for individuals with sever peanut allergies.
With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, they have even decided to prepare some “buttercups” [Em's signature sweet] to send to numerous charities:  Hurricaine Katrina Relief Fund, The Chilean Miner Food Drive, Heal Haiti with Yum Yums, and we while we're there we should probably throw some in for the Gulf too; to aide in cleaning up the oil spill.

If you don’t believe “us” – take these 'A' list celebrities word for it:
“I know I said ‘yes, we can,’ but wow ‘yes, they can!’”  -President Barak Obama (when asked if Emily and Leigh would win this race)
“That’s what she said!” -Michael Scott
"I’d adopt them in a heartbeat.” -Angelina Jolie
“Man I wish we would have booked these two on Amazing Race, Fear Factor, or Surivor, like 5 years ago; they are talented, amazing and funny, too!”   -Ex CBS Casting Agent (happy for Richman and Oehler’s success, but wishes he would have “discovered” this fine talented duo).  He was fired shortly after this posting for “not” casting them.
